I'll give you a hint.....

The barrel has been ordered but I couldn't wait, so I bought some dies and some ammo to help me with the wait:D .

Cause that's the one I got a good deal on:D . I bought it from Thunderstick on Huntingbc. He had just put on the Hogue and didn't even shoot it with the new stock. I don't need an '06 and I don't really like the '06 (nothing wrong with it, nothing personal, please don't all come to my door with torches an pitch forks!:p ). I bought especially for this project. I actually kinda like the Hogue, the rubbery grip and it has a very soft recoil pad. I'm usually more a Winchester and Mcmillan guy:D .

Before you spin the barrel off that rifle, mind letting me know what the weight is with rings and scope?

Yes, I'm trying to talk myself in off the ledge...again:D

Very cool. I love the Rugers and I just got my new MKII in 350 Rem Mag (stainless). I haven't shot it yet - I can't wait.

Who's doing the work for you?

35cal is a lot of fun - you will be hooked.

Congrats!

:D

I don't have an accurate scale but the bathroom scale says 8.5Lbs with a 3-9X40 Simmon that I had laying around.

I'll let him speak up if he wishes to, I'm not sure if he wants a flood of requests or the negative publicity if he srews up!;) :p

Welcome to the club! I have owned 3 Whelens and I still own two of them. I think it's a fabulous cartridge.

Best regards,

I already have a nice 6.5X55 Winchester FWT as my deer rifle and I have my 7mm Rem Mag Winchester in a McMillan stock (see picture earlier in the thread) that was my "big" rifle for moose. The 7mm Rem Mag has killed every moose that it was pointed at without any problems but I wanted to try something different. I've done lots of research on the .35 Whelen lately and it seems to be in the same category as the 6.5x55 (not power wise), as nobody has anything negative or bad experiences with it. Should be a good medium range moose and elk thumper.
