Hi CGN'ers,

Pertaining to Ontario. Are any of you Nutz licensed guides?

If so, how does one get a Guides License?

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Yes I guide in the Rainy River area of Northwestern Ontario. There is no special requirement to obtain a guide license other than, you must be a resident of the district. You also must renew your license on a yearly basis.

Now does that limit you to guiding in that specific district? (And when you say district, are we talking WMU 41 persay, or Southeastern Ontario?)

Lastly, what are the costs and where do I get it?

Thanks allswell!!
Appreciate your help!

Is a guide required for non resident hunting in Ontario?

For some, yes.... (ie : A non-resident who wishes to hunt a black bear in
Ontario must have a Black Bear Hunting Licence
Validation Certificate (white copy) to validate their
non-resident black bear hunting licence. This certificate
can be obtained from a bear operator (operator of a tourist
establishment, guide or air carrier) licensed in Ontario to
provide black bear hunting services to non-residents.

"...Is a guide required for non resident hunting..." Yep, but it depends on the WMU. A non-resident landowner is treated like any other non-resident.
"Most non-residents hunting bear in Ontario will be required to use the services of an operator (a tourist outfitter, guide, or air operator) licensed to provide black bear hunting services to non-residents."
"Non-residents must be accompanied by one licensed guide for each two hunters when hunting deer in the Territorial District of Rainy River. WMUs within the Territorial District of Rainy River are 9B, 10, 11A and part of 7B and 12B."
"Non-residents must be accompanied by one licensed guide for each two hunters when hunting moose in the Territorial District of Rainy River. Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) in the Territorial District of Rainy River are: 9B, 10, 11A and parts of 7B and 12B."
"A non-resident who wishes to hunt moose in Ontario must have valid hunting accreditation and be a registered guest and actually accommodated at a tourist establishment."
"Non-resident moose hunters may hunt moose in WMUs 7B, 9B, 11A, 11B, 12B, 13 and 14 only by hunting through a tourist outfitter or by hunting with an immediate relative."

Sunray pretty well told you everything you need to know except the price and where to get one. The last one I remember buying was at the MNR office in Fort Frances and it cost roughly $7.50 I hope this helps, allswell
