No...you'd still need to learn things like grip and trigger control or else your shots won't go where the dot is. It just takes away the need to learn traditional sight alignment.

My understanding is that the only thing lasers are good for is intimidation and for ERT members to shoot with their arm around a shield. My advice is to learn proper technique, including rapid sight picture acquisition.

The guide rod ones main benefit is no external changes to the gun so it will work with a typical holster.
Lasers won't do your shooting for you but in low to no light and in self defense scenarios they can give the shooter an advantage.
Since they are not a necessity they tend to get blown off as gadgets.

Lasers can be a great training tool, but you still have half a dozen things to learn and repeat.
