I own an FN 509 Tactical, great gun but as noted by many reviewers it is over-sprung, even with the included softer factory rod and spring installed. After 2000 rounds it sometimes will not eject tuned rounds that function perfectly in other 9mm and with a comp on it it wont eject anything at all. A slow-mo video showed me what I suspected that the slide doesn't cycle with enough energy rearward to eject, clear the mag and strip a round.

My solution was to put in a Lonewolf Glock 19 guiderod and ISMI spring. Now it functions flawlessly and as a bonus shoots flatter. The G19 guide rod is about 0.5cm longer than the FN.

My question is would this cause an issue with the slightly longer guide rod?

You answered your own question. You said it functioned flawlessly.

What i would do is do a long term observation and see if there are ill-effects. I am safe to say that you are probably 1 of the first few people who had done that.

On mine, i never even put in the softer recoil spring. I shoot wholely 124gr AE, which some people say its a little hotter than the rest.
