Guided hunts

I have been looking into muskox hunts lately, and the least expensive are in Greenland and may fit your budget. The ones in Canada are going for $20,000USD.

If you are also looking bring home meat, a Canadian hunt that you can DIY, or a hunt in the US for antelope or an exotic in Texas, may be more inline with your budget.
Axis deer or blackbuck are supposed to be some of the finest venison anywhere. (I know that I am considering a hunt in Texas for these reasons for the wife and I next year)

There is a lot of merit to your idea of a new canoe and a river hunt for bear or moose, plus some river fishing, may be the most enjoyable you can do!

Best of luck in your quest!

Thanks for your responses

Honestly Africa was not really a consideration but now I’m getting interested…

you cannot hunt Africa for 8500CAD including flights, dip/pack, shipping, gun permits, etc.

Even a high fence hunt in SA would be more with a good outfitter. And I wouldn't do one of those. I know some may disagree with me and that's ok. I have done it and wouldn't do it again. Africa done right is around 30k CAD for Buffalo/a couple plains game by the time you write the final check.

You might be able to do a COUES deer in Sonora Mexico for around that price. That would be a cool hunt. This is what I would do. Beautiful country, great food, senoritas.....coronas. Hermosillo area would be cool.

Perhaps a BISON in Northern AB. I have heard that can be a tough one and not sure how fun.

Probably a Non trophy moose area in NFLD.

And maybe even a free range Aoudad in West Texas. That is a good hunt but I think the really good areas are around 8k-10k USD now. this is the best budget sheep hunt you can get. cool country and stay in north america.

The flights are a killer for Europe or Asia right now.

You are in BC so you have lots there as a resident.
