Guitar/Rifle Strap/Sling

I'm seriously considering installing a spare set of strap lock buttons on my 10/22 and then using a spare (but nice) guitar strap as my rifle sling set-up. I figure if it's good enough to hold up my guitars and keep them from falling off even when I'm jumping around, it's good enough for my rifle.
What do you think? Good or bad idea?

Why not? Sounds like a fine idea. Especially if you have flames painted on your stock.

& hey, have you come up with a way to make it spin, a la ZZ Top?

They may not like it at the range, but %*$# 'em if they can't take a joke!

I myself have been thinking about attaching an iPod to a rifle so I can listen to "The Final Countdown" on repeat while I shoot. Should increase awesomeness by AT LEAST 70%.

LET THE AWESOMENESS BEGIN!!!!

wasnt there a movie where some guy had a guitar gun? that would be badass

"Evil Roy Slade" was one, the character was "Bing Bell". It fired when he played a certain note.

As far as guitar straps/buttons/locks on a gun, there are very good reasons why they are different.

They work better for their intended purpose. Gun designers/guitar designers are not as dumb as computer software designers.

I have checked. ;):D No offence to anyone here...

...I think I'm gonna re-chamber my strat to an open "G"...

Ok, jokes aside, there are quick release guitar straps that are "locked" on to buttons that may work ok. They swivel too. They have a huge screw.... Not too sure of the benfeit though other than "the only one at the range" kinda feeling.

if/when...pics please
