I got to thinking ( a dangerous pastime, for sure!) about a case to hold both my Fausti and my Ugartechea ( when it arrives) 28's for transport to the range and for when I head out of town on a hunting trip.
These of course will not be transported by airline in said case!!
I have narrowed my choice to two, from Jeff's.
I am kinda leaning toward the trunk style case myself.
What say all you SXS loonies?:D

I'm intrigued by the motorcase styled one, though you have gone and posted one fittied for O/U's ?????

Tim
You can get it for either the O/U or SXS guns, that is simply the pic Jeff has in his catalogue if you look close, one is a SXS and the other an O/U. I miss that at first as well!:)

Case

Cat,
I have several cases from Jeffs & you can not go wrong with them -- also great service. If your not in a hurry, he has regular specials.
Cheers, John

Sure enough, blow the pic up and there is indeed one of each in there !
The only drawback I can think of may be the what I will call filler pads shown to snug up the fit( b/t forend and case & b/t bbl chamber and case ). Are they loose so that they could be a bit of hassle to manipulate every time one takes a gun out or puts it back in the case ?
Still though, that stye catches my eye, may be stronger due to a more squarish construction, take less space on a table or tailgate surface when accessing the contents. But then again...... The other one when open shows off the contents a lot nicer !

That motor case would be my choice. Very compact and stylish. It's too bad it's only offered in one length although for shorter barrels an insert would keep the barrels from moving. I'd be very tempted to order one if it came in a 32" length.

I've bought a few things from him , and you are right - GREAT service and deals!!:D
I enjoy phoning a company and talking to the guy who actaully owns the outfit!
Choosing is a big dilemma for me and I will agonize over this for aboiut another 20 minutes!!

20 minutes is almost up...so what did you choose :)

I'd prefer the trunk case - more compact for transport. But the flat case certainly wins the "wow" factor when opened to reveal two fine doubles!

Maybe the first one-NO, the second one. I LIKE the wow factor on the flat one, but the trunk will pack easier , but...:bangHead:

I like the presentation case (note the pretentious name I'm applying, to make it sound more aristocratic H:S:)

Seriously though, the trunk-style is good for keeping a heavy load close to the body for short distances. It gets less than comfortable as the distance increases.

For the walk from the truck to the clubhouse or the firing line, I'd want a thinner case that I can carry in one hand without rubbing against my thigh as I walk.

In this age, we don't walk far with cased guns, so I suppose whatever fits in your gun room best should be your choice.

Buy em both, get rid of the one you don't like after the test drives.

Better yet, buy them both, keep them both. :D

The big reason that I chose the trunk style , is when I asked jeff what HIS choice would be, he said that for sub gauge guns the trunk style fits much better than that "presentation" case!
That being said, the trunk style is very unique and unusual!:D
You are right however, carrying too many heavy things at our age gets old fast!!

Speaking of weight is the trunk case lighter than the presentation case? I recall once helping a guy with two full sized o/us an Americase. It was the "clam shell" type as shown here and with guns and accessories it was over 40lbs. total weight.

For carrying I think the motor case would be less unwieldy than the presentation case and would be easier to store in the average cargo space in most vehicles.
