Hi, I need some advice on cleaning a stainless S&W 686. I puchased it off a friend of mine recently. It's quite carboned up. I'm going to give it a good once over tonigh. I was wondering if there is a specific product out there to clean stainless weapons.

for stainless FIREARMS, and revolvers, I use Hoppes#9 solvent
I use a mini spray bottle, with a fine mist, spray it all down, let it soak in, then scrub with a clean cloth
It might take a few times over to make it clean, but if you clean it thoroughly every time, you will be ok

I take the cylinder off my Ruger, soak it overnight in a Canadian Tire purchased Brake Parts Cleaner....spray into a glass jar, pop the cylinder in, close the jar. Never let the stuff touch plastic parts, it will melt them. Also use to clean barrels. I har a lot about a product called "Break Free"...thought it was supposed to be available at Can Tire or Walmart...it cleans, lubes all in one...love to locate a local supplier.
