Hello,
Does anyone know of a good gun fitter in western canada? Or all of Canada I guess, if no one in western Canada? I need someone who has facilities to fit me with a try gun, shoot the try gun and then either modify my current stock or give me the neccesary measurements to have a stock built (or build one if they are also a stock maker). Not looking for a half-assed job I guess is what I am trying to communicate. I am shooting sporting clays with a browning cynergy (if that matters to a fitter? i dont know). Also not opposed to changing guns if this particular one is not the right fit for me.
Thank you in advance
T

Gun fit is very important, I would suggest that you hook up with a certified sporting clays instructor. The Alberta Sporting Clays Association has a list of certified instructors. Since the Alberta Association has become the Canadian Association, they probably keep a list of of instructors in all of Canada. Try:

and it should link you.

Well where are you? I'm in Edmonton working with Steve Lochham, he has quite a bit of stock fitting experience. FS

If its the same guy that was there 1.5-2 years ago, he looked down the barrel (while I mounted the gun) and told me my eye was centered on the rib, so the gun fit. Not quite what Im looking for.

That is why some of us suggested a sporting instructor. There is no point in doing a custom gun fit til you have learned a proper gun mount. The guy at tse was partly right and that is where you should start with a stock that allows your eye to be in the correct positioin. Now a good shooting instructor will probably start the same way then he will watch you shoot. After tweaking your gun mount, he may suggest certain changes to your stock to go with your style of shooting. Your instructor may be able to make those changes himself but more likley he will direct you to where you can have it done. Steve Lockham Sr. is very good. He is a level 2 sporting instructor. There are Level 2 sporting instructors in the Calgary area. That is why I suggested that you contact someone from the Canadian Sporting Association.

It could be a different guy. Markus was the first gunsmith they brought in, but he left. Stefan is their current gunsmith.
