Gun Identification ?

A rifle I saw on the weekend caught my eye, it has no identifiaction markings on it except an 1897 stamping, Iam not sure if its a date or a model #. Does anyone know what make it may be and what its worth . Its a 6.5 cal and may be swiss and the mag is atached and off to the side of the bolt.

the rifle looks lik a Krag used by the dutch in 6.5 cal.

Yep a Krag, bubbabed just perfect to be a great hunting rifle. If the bore is very good buy it.

I've always wanted one in 7x57, but it seems the factory disagreed with me!

Guess I'm stuck with 14 Rosses and a Norwegian Krag.....

Thays a 6.5x55 swedish mauser chambered krag-jorgenson.If you do buy it don't use factory ammo in it before getting your gunsmith to check it out as the krag was chambered for the 6.5x55 loaded at a lower pressure level than factory ammo today.

Any 6.5x55 that I've wandered into has been loaded to pressure levels compliant with the rifles that the cartridge was originally designed for:
Norwegian Krag
Swedish 1894 Mauser carbine
Swedish 1896 Mauser rifle

and I have used this modern ammunition in my Krag and in my two Mausers, both 1899 construction, one German, the other Swedish.

I say to much unless it's an unaltered, matching artillary carbine. Anyone else have an opinion? I have seen sported krags for 100-200. They are however, fantastic shooters, with an extremely smooth bolt action.

I picked up a bubba'd Norwegian Krag a few years ago for $140 + 2 boxes of S&B ammo. Nice rifle, shoots better than I do, but not worth $300, in my opinion.
