Pay for fancy ads....pay the 'Costa's'....biggest banner at the competition...etc.

I agree. This looks more like the results of branding. If Larue is the favourite, then it should also be the most recommended.

Further, the favourite should also have the largest market share. This sounds like a lot of guys who have mid level quality rifles voting on rifles "they'd like to have".
