I've been shopping around a bit locally for a handgun, and have noticed there is not much competiveness, basically the same prices at the shops. I was wondering how much flexibility they have in pricing, will they price match, can you show them any online pricing to help with the price, etc.......
Sorry, i'm a real bargain hound, but i am new to gun shops, and don't want to start on the wrong foot with them.....
Thanks for any advice,
Rob

There isn't enough profit on most of the guns to allow for undercutting to any large degree.

Yes, sometimes you will see a bargin, but for the most part, deal where you feel welcome. The price there is likely the same as everywhere else.

Most shops seem to keep inventory as low as possible, and order from the distributor as required.

In Canada, the reason there is so little variation in price is because the real
markup ( and profit!) is done at the distributor to dealer transaction... it leaves the dealers very little leeway in pricing...
It means that, unless you are making large, multi-unit, cash deals, the dealer
is unable to 'move' very much on the pricing.
If you like to haggle and dicker, stick to the gunshows and EE here on the board.
The only plus in this is that it makes it easier to forget about shopping around, and worrying about the 'lost bargain', and so feel free to support your local dealer without the sinking feeling that you're being screwed!;)
