Went to the gunshow in Chatham Ont. today and came out with a nice M1 Garand bayo with the web belt
AFH and a big US flaming bomb on the scabbard
M1a.jpg

Also jumped on this can of 180 rds of .303brit . Mostly WW2 Canadian and Winchester makes
303b.jpg

But there are these others mixed in. The ones at the top look like cast reloads
with the C arrow headstamps . The one on the bottom left , with the corroded lead tip is Dominion . The others " I think " are early 215gr .303brit .
It was somewhat hard to read those headstamps and my artistic talent is well....Maybe somebody can ID them for me.

Wow, you had a good day! I didn't know the show was on! :(
Kind of tired anyway...

Great find, The cast bullets are called gallery rounds. For use in indoor ranges. In the good old days. The others are MkVI 215 gr FMJRN, RL Royal Laboratory, Woolwich Arsenal, Kent, UK. Pre WWI. I am not positive, but the second might be South African manuf "U", possibly a "O" marked observation round. Not for sure, Look at these sites

Hope this helps

Last weekend I bought some .303 too and I think I saw that .303 gallery ammo. At that point I had maxed out my spending on the day anyway...;)

Don't ask how I know this but the canadian 51 pat belt had more eyelets (3)and a single hook on the ends of the belt to hook into a middle eyelet. I just happen to have one kicking around. Nothing like good old UFI.

Sign in British cinema,"Please remove web belts before sitting down"

I was told by a friend that they used to file the catch a bit so that if you got in a fight you simply slapped the catch and wrapped part of the belt around your hand for a weapon.
