Gun socks?

So I did it. My beautiful Lee Enfield has received a "safe kiss" while removing it from the locker the other day. I dam near cried. Just a little indent in the wood. So I decided that I would put my 2 most valuable (to me) in gun socks so as to protect them. My Long Branch, and my Sniper Mosin (repro, but its worth so much more to this particular shooter). Is this a good idea? I never had any issue with humidity or rust, as I have an air-conditioner/de-humidifier not 15 feet from it all during summer. Anyone else doing this to protect their "precious's"?

Yes I know the real cure is to get another locker and keep the nice ones separate, but until that comes along, I'm stuck putting 10 guns awkwardly into a 10 gun cabinet...

Once the vault got a little crowded each rifle has a sock.....no more accidental safe kisses..

Years ago, my wife gave me a few retired flannel sheets which I cut up and sewed into gunsocks - they worked great!
I have since bought similar sheet goods brand new on clearance and done the same - cheaper than the store bought product.

Problem was, fitting 10 guns into that cabinet is easier said then done. 3 of them have Pistol grips making less room of the bat, then 2 of those 3 plus another one have red dots or big ass scopes on top. Thus eliminating the top towards the outside idea. (Luckily, I can easily take my scope of my sniper Mosin so its not 4 guns that give me trouble). Then 3 of those 10 (none of which have the pistol grip or the scopes) are too long to be in the back and MUST be on the outer left and right sides.

The damage to the Enfield actually came when my SR-22 slid over about 4 inches and one of the rails kissed the LB.


So it sounds like the sock idea is an ok standard as long as things are kept dry. I am just waiting for Crappy Tire to have another sale on those lockers, then I will be golden. Will have room for more guns and maybe some ammo!
