I was going through my "files" on Saturday (I can't shoot on that day, give it some imagination and you'll figure out why ;)), and I was struck with the love-in going on between Gun-Tests and Fiocchi. Edit: Federal was the love-affair ammo, as I'll explain below.

I'll post with more detail later on, but it looked like Fiocchi (edit: I mean Federal!)was favoured over the crowd-pleasing Lapua for both price and accuracy - not once, but several times. Go figure?

Several shooters are our club shoot the Fiocchi and swear by it. It is harder to get in Canada but if it shoots in your gun than go for it! I like Eley Match EPS my self but than again I haven't shot much fiocchi.

Update:

From the July 1996 article "Pricey .22 Ammo: We Pick Fiocchi", Fiocchi’s Pistol Super Match got the nod. CCI Green-Tag got sort of lambasted. Other advocated ammo included Fiocchi Rifle Super Match, Federal Gold Medal Match & Federal Ultramatch, Lapua Midas and RWS Special Match and RWS 50 - all were shot through rifles. cz452shooter, Eley Match Xtra, Tenex and target rifle were also listed.

More to come...

Actually, the love-affair was with Federal ammo - my bad...here's more evidence:
