gun value

the year, make and model and caliber along with a photo would help. The canadian dollar being less than the USA dollar does not change the value of the gun if bought and sold in canada, Our dollar is still a dollar to us here. your $1000 dollar gun is still a $1000 dollar gun despite the decline.

LOL, how much did a used winchester .30-06 cost in 1950's? They seem to sell quite well now.

Everything has increased since the 50's. What was a loaf of bread worth in 1955?

$0.02? $0.05?

At $2.49 today, that's an increase of 5000%.

Say I bought a used gun a year ago. Purchase price $1000. With the value of the canadian dollar should the price of the used gun go up?

The rifle in question shouldn't be worth more than the price of the same one new. Even if its not made any more, doesn't necessarily mean its worth more...

Most often it should be around 80% of the cost of a new one. However, as with most things, its only worth what someone will pay for it.

People buy Stevens 200's for $299 new, yet they never sell on here for less than that. A used one should go for $225-$250...

Not likely, esp if you paid too much for it in the first place.

For example, if you paid $1000 for a Rem 710 with a Tasco 3x9, I doubt VERY much you'd be able to recoup you costs a yr later. ;)

Ya, don't you love that. Then they post it in the EE with a $20 Bushnell 4X scope and want $400 for the gun all of a sudden.

Whats worse is that some idiot thinks he's getting a good deal.:onCrack:

I have never made any money on a used gun in my life. Especially not once general inflation is taken into account. Usually, I give 400 dollars, put roughly 500 dollars worth of work into it, then sell for 350 ten years later. I am not a wealthy person and this may explain why not. Regards, Bill.

Like bill says. Anything I have sold I hope i have put a fair price on.I have never inflated the cost because it was hard to get or rare. My pap and grand pap would rise up and lay a licken on me.
