Started reading this book, and wow - very readable. :yingyang:

Reminded me a lot of A Rifleman Went To War, only with admittedly less firearm-focus :(

But I love artillery, and this contains some potent accounts of an artillery forward-observer on the eastern front.... Thk

So there you go; has anyone else read this book?

I haven't read that one, I have the three by George Blackburn, FO with the Canadian Artillery in WW2: WHERE THE HELL ARE THE GUNS, THE GUNS OF NORMANDY and THE GUNS OF VICTORY.

Yes, read it last year. Russian soldiers 4 yrs of combat with no R&R allowed. One exception, this Lt Col received 2 weeks off once, other than that he was at the front the whole time. Almost condemned to death for having once been over run by the enemy and his Arty destroyed. Fought Germans, turncoat Soviets, saved kids, about as honorable soldier as could be exspected. It was a good read.
One more thing, after European victory this guy takes a train and fights the Japanese, gets the girl, and goes home a hero. It was a very good read!

Thank you.You just added one more book to my long list of "to be read".
Might be very interesting and I do hope it's a real thing, not collection of real stories from individuals redacted to suit.

I'm reading now" Finland´s War of Choice"-very hard read, way too technical bit it explains exactly why and how Finland ended up with "Continuation War"
