I'm a BB user, and have the GunSim app. My question is this: Inputs are temp/atmospheric pressure/humidity/altitude/density altitude, plus the usual wind/declination/target spd/etc. If I input temp/atmospheric pressure/humidity, that should be sufficient for the necessary ballistic calculation right? Do I leave altitude and density altitude at 0? Density altitude is a function of those 3 inputs. Any help would be much appreciated as I'd prefer not to have to pack around unnecessary electronics.

Q: When do I input Altitude?
A: If you know your actual air pressure, you can set Altitude to zero. If you have the weather map pressure (which is the sea level value), you enter altitude and the program adjusts to the height you are actually at.
Q: When do I input Density Altitude?
A: If you know your Density Altitude (from a meter, such as a Kestrel), you don't have to type in pressure, temperature or humidity. Ballistics programs use pressure, temperature and humidity simply to calculate the air density.
You should at least put your altitude in as this is quite important when it comes to ballistics at different elevations.
If you know the air pressure at your location, you leave it at zero.

"Density altitude is a function of those 3 inputs." Exactly.
Weather report pressure is adjusted for sea level.
The software calculates what the air pressure should be at your height.
If you have a Kestrel, cut out the middle man and use the local pressure.
