So my grandfather gave me an old no4 mk1 star in full military configuration. It’s in pretty good shape, but the stock needs work (looseness).

Any recommendation for a gunsmith ? I was told that working on these old no4 requires some expertise and I want to make sure to get the services of someone possessing such expertise?.

Thanks,

Larry

be very careful who does that , yrs ago it did not really matter too much.
These days messing with collector grade guns is not for the newbe, unless they know what they are about.
Better to leave it alone.

Make a list of what you need and find it yourself
That way it could be total original military
There 're a few good guy's here that have them in
great condition

Contact Lou and see if he can help. If the butt is just loose in the socket, there is a long bolt up the length of the butt, and maybe it just needs tightening. But, if the wood has been deformed, it might need some simple knowledgeable attention. If the foreend is loose, there is a big screw just in front of the magazine. Other looseness'es are harder to diagnose and correct.

Stock (looseness) ? more info, please. buttstock? forestock? have you tried tightening any screws?
what part of the Country are you in?

louthepou is your guy, no questions.
The guy is very modest, don't let that fool you. I have taken several jobs to him, always outstanding work. You will not be disappointed.
