Gunsmith That Can Cut Metric Threads and do a VZ Barrel Chop

die? I would hope that a smith would use a lathe and a cutter, not a die, to thread a barrel.

In to slavex's response i would also hope a smith would be using a lathe and carbide threading tool.

to be honest im not too sure how you would dial in the bore so that you wouldnt have any runout when threading it with a die with out using a lathe and if its in the lathe already why not use a threading tool :D

He means cut most of the threads on the lathe then use the die adjusted to class 3 threads to finish. I finish with the lathe along with many others, you need to be fussy finishing with the lathe.

To be fair , he's saying he'd do it for free.(cost of die)
He reworked a few of us Nutters barrels last year for free too.

Ronin did a nice job on Meaghan's .22 and redid Threemorewishes 10/22

Problem I see, Its a Pressed and Pinned on barrel so unless he knows how to remove it or make a mandolin really only way of doing it.

Plus not being a registered gunsmith It be harder to get a ATT, I would have to transfer over the gun in his name and then vice versa.

You'd have to get the barrel out.
I wouldn't want to risk putting a scratch on your rifle or having trouble getting the barrel out or back in anyways.

The chop and thread i'll do,but that's as far as i'd be comfortable going

Then I'm sorry. Looking for a smith that actually did this before.
