I need a recommendation for a gunsmith who has the actual jigs/know how to knock out my drift pins on my Norc FSB.
I have knocked them out before on other brands but these ones are not coming out.
My home made setup isn't letting me transfer enough energy to the pins to get them flush and finish them off with the smaller punch.
Going to need the proper jigs for the FSB etc There is no other 20" 1:9 pencil barrel available in Canada. I snagged the last one and I can't afford to muck this up.
Anyone have any Smith recommendations that can make light work of this? I don't need tips on how to get them out, I'm fully aware of the methods/tools and procedure and have got them out on other brands. These ones are in there damn good.

On occasion when I have encountered impossible pins, they have been sacrificed. Drilled out. Sometimes it is not necessary to drill out the whole thing. Drill a ways in from one or both ends, then punch.
Have to be able to drill a straight hole, if damage to other parts is to be avoided.
FSB needs to come off so that a different forend can be installed, then the FSB reinstalled?

I've gotten a few of them out of a Norc. Had to resharpen a few punches, but they eventually do come out.
Unless you're going to sacrifice or make a lower profile to that FSB it will get scratched if one intends to hammer them out.
Drilling is the easier option, but you need to buy new tapered pins and pay for extra time required.
Mostly everyone just installs a new rail with low profile gas block.

Depending on where in AB you are, call up dale or Greg at tier one armory in Edmonton. Gregs a former CF weapons tech so they should have no problem taking care of that for you.

That sounds like the right option there Sir. Thank you. I will contact them.

To the others thanks for the info. The full situation is I finally sourced a 1:9 twist hammer forged 20" pencil barrel with gas block.
Problem is that it's a Norc I had to buy the whole upper. Already spun off the barrel etc But the barrel nut on the Norcs is not standard length so any standard handguards need to be modified. Also the cap behind the FSB will not fit standard handguards.
I need to get the FSB off so I can swap the barrel nut Assy and the cap.
One of the big reasons is so I can keep my awesome M16A1 clone in proper config with my Triangular guards. I hate low profile gas blocks. I like to know it takes the hammer of God to knock that thing off (hence my problem :D) not a fan of set screws holding critical components to reliable function etc I'm old fashioned I guess ;)
