Gunsmith to refinish/restore rifle stock

If you can’t find a smith or person who specializes in finishing stocks in your area then one route I’d look at is a cabinet maker or French polisher. They are masters at steaming dents out off old furniture and putting hardwoods back to original. You’d have to strip firearm right down though. I know a few smiths back in UK that contract out the wood work to a specialist as it is an art getting perfect finish.
Best of luck

Wayne Doucette finished my Brno Effect stock and I am certain not many can touch his skills. Unfortunately, he's a dying breed and the few like him are taking on less and less work. I put a few marks on her from honest use since Wayne's master handy work. A bit of wear is unavoidable.

What Dave said - if you can't find a smith, look for a cabinet maker or other fine carpenter in your area (even a hobbyist). A job like this would be right up their alley.
