Does anyone know of any titles pertaining mostly to bolt rifles?

Basically I'm looking for " Threading, Chambering, and Headspacing for Dummies".

No, I don't think I can become a gunsmith by reading a book.
No, I don't want to know how you did it yourself with a salad fork and a hand drill.

I'm just interested in the machining aspect of it, and would like to do some reading on the subject.

Thanks,
MM

The Complete Illustrated Guide to Precision Rifle Barrel Fitting
by John Hinnant

It will give you an idea what's involved as tiriaq suggested. I know three good smiths from my travels that have helped me and they all have different techniques. There a few ways to get it done.

Gunsmith Books

The "NRA Gunsmith's Guide" is a good book to have. It has lots of information on various aspects of Gunsmithing, and many projects, tips, and general information.

I can also recommend:
Gunsmithing Tips and Projects - Wolfe Publishing
Compilation from Rifle magazine with excellent coverage of precision barrel fitting.
