I'm in the market for a PR in the near future. I was seriously looking at the Remington 5R / 700p lines but with costs these days they're upwards of 1400-1500 ++

Was surfng the EE and noticed actions for 450-600 and barrels much the same. With an HS stock going for 300 I'm pretty close to the cost of a basic Rem.

So I ask: what's the going rate these days for spinning a barrel and trueing up an action. Does the action of a store bought action only need to be trued?

Thanks

Barrel installation is about $250 usually. Truing cost will likely be the same-ish. Bedding is usually about $100-$200. Those are rough strokes.

Doesn't matter where it is from. A production factory action might or might not need to be touched up. There is no point spending the time or money if it is not needed.

To set up and measure if the locking lug recesses, the action face and the threads, the bolt lugs and bolt face are concentric with the bolt race is difficult and time consuming. All of those things can simply be trued for as little as $150. I have not seen a factory action where truing did not correct something. It might be canted threads on one, lug recesses on another, a combination, etc.
