Hi everybody I am new to this forum so bear with me.I am looking into becoming a gunsmith but I really don't know where to start.Anybody got any ideas about where I could get the nessasary education needed for this fine trade ?

Thank you

If you can function in French there is(or certainly was) a college course in Maniwaki, Quebec. Apart from that, you would have to go to the US. Perhaps others may have more information. Personally, I am not impressed with the correspondence courses.

Colorado School of Trades, be forewarned it is NOT cheap! You will most likely need to have near the 80K mark in the bank to get the education, as a Canadian you are not allowed to work while attending school in the US, therefore you will need not only the course costs up front but enough to live on for 2 years as well.
There are other schools out there, CST is where I attended, so have high regards for the institution

Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado has a large gunsmithing program as well. It has been expanded since I took the two year course in 1966-67. It was fairly cheap back then but that is in the past.

There is also one in Philadelphia, don't recall the name. For a foreign student you will need to show them a bank draft (or similar) outlining that you have all the funding they feel necessary to attend the course (tuition, lodging, travel, meals, tools etc). A few years back they were still saying something like 35000$ per annum.
You can find them on line and contact them. Just google for gunsmithing schools.
