Hi All,
I am wondering if there are any Registered Gunsmiths in the SW Ontario area that you could recommend? I have recently taken up Trap Shooting after spending years and years shooting other clay target shooting in the UK. I have basically just shot with friends using our portable trap but I now need to be a little more proficient. I use a Beretta 390 ST which I love (I had a Beretta 303 in England for 25 years). If I need a little work doing on my gun where would I take it?

Thanks,

Ron

I can't speak for any gunsmiths down in your neck of the woods, but I have heard that Jim at Outback Sports just outside of Hanover has a great gunsmith. For whatever reason though, the gunsmith wants to remain anonymous, so you'd have to talk to Jim about it. I have a friend who had work done on a Franchi autoloader by him and was really impressed.

For a little closer to home, you may try Ontario Gun Services just north of Kirkton. I'm pretty sure they took over when Butcher closed down in Clinton. Might be worth a shot.

What is it that's wrong with your 390? Is it the mechanic's of the Gun itself? Or is it a fit problem? The 390's are pretty easy to work on.
If you want to use it for Formal Trap just get someone to cut an adjustable comb in it for you. Then find your POI. And pattern it at 30-40yds, and shoot lots. Cause it's fun.

Rodger Kotanko, Dark International Trading Co., south of Brantford, I belive, 519-428-3127 does good work at a good price, good reputation. He's hard to get ahold of as he works all night; try him @ 10:00 -11:00p.m. EST.

Thanks again for the help. I need a second bead putting on the rib (I think). I have had very little shooting practice in the last 10 years!!! My 390 ST is in perfect condition - it has had about 500 rounds through it fron new. But I have recently got into Trap for the first time in my life and I am not doing too well at hitting the bird. So I was looking for a gunsmith who could check out my rib and confirm that a second bead will help me. I am not sure if it will. I could do with putting a couple of hundred rounds through it everyday for 2 or 3 days to tune in my shooting.
I appreciate all replies, they are a big help. Is there a forum where shooting items are bought and sold ?
