Google is not very kind to our Canadian gunsmiths when trying to see who is all out there. I am trying to compile a list for when I need some work done. Post anybody out there you know of and I will edit the original post. Also a thumbs up or down if you have used them. Trying to limit this to gunsmiths that specialize in Tactical/precision rifles

I have used ATR for some work, It was acceptable, this was back in the day when Rick even posted that the shop went through a transition period with some issues if I am remembering right it was employee related. The work was neither great nor bad felt like the price was high for what I got.

Insite Arms Seems like the new kid on the block, Prices seem to be at the high end. I have only purchased a muzzle brake to test the waters but the machining was top notch and the finish was even and nice. If they put this type of effort into a muzzle brake I would likely gladly give them other work.

Never used Tactical Ordnance but he seems to have a large customer base that is very happy when people have asked in the past.

I've been talking with Insite lately while I figure out exactly what I want them to build for me. Very good guys to talk with and the work they do looks great and clearly shoots great.

These guys are amazing gun smith's. I have had several barrels and bedding jobs done. When you get a rifle back from them it will be perfect and will shoot lights out. Reasonable prices. Only down side I know of is the 30+- week wait time.

Though he may not be considered "tactical", Dennis Sorensen (Guntech) is more than capable of building a precision/tactical rifle, especially on a Remington 700 action build. He learned his craft building benchrest rifles before most of us were born IIRC.

I have used ATRS and Tac Ord as well as (now out of business I think) Sean at North Shore Barrels to build tactical rifles and was pleased with the work in the order I have typed their names which, interestingly, corresponds with price - with most expensive being first - so, perhaps, I did get what was paid for. I also had the now deceased Mick McPhee build me a F Class rifle or two and his work was exceptional and he will be missed.
My shout out though really has to be to the Chou Bros who last year built me a superb F-Class rifle and just recently (as in this past Monday) I took delivery of the outstanding job they did on building me a 6.5-47L on a Surgeon 591. ( the rifle I'd initially approached Insite about) These fellows do phenomenal work and are the most polite, customer-service oriented folks you could ever wish to do business with.

Bob

Since the original date of this post Insite have built several rifles for me and the workmanship and service has been outstanding.

There is also Steve Emblin of EM Precision Rifles out of Edmonton who does awesome work. Just got one of my 700s reworked by Steve an couldn't be happier an already have in the works a couple more to be done by him. One of their latest builds is actually featured on the McMillan website as well. Well worth talking with Steve as they have great comms.

Ron Smith in Alberta, also Rod Hendrickson in Edmonton, Dave Henry in Bentley. Murray Charleston in BC. Likely some more I'm forgetting. Used them all, no complaints. - dan

Couldn't find any info for Dave Henry do you know any so I can add him?

I went with Insite Arms to build my 6.5X47 they were extremely helpful friendly and knowledgeable. The rifle they built me is extremely accurate.
