I have thinned the heard recently and now I am in the position to buy/build another high quality rifle to complement my 7 saum, Defiance Machine Anti XM, Proof 22" barrel, Manners EH1, Trigger Tech trigger. Its a great rifle and I am struggling to find a need for another...but the force is strong, haha.

After pricing out Defiance Machine action, Manners stocks EH1 or PH, Trigger Tech Trigger, and barrels (carbon and steel) the Gunwerks Werkman looks like a decent price for a "factory" rifle.

Anyone running a Gunwerks Werkman? If so how do you like it? How would it compare to a full custom? Any advantages / disadvantages going with either option.

Other question - do I go smaller then my 7 Saum and get a 6.5 PRC or Creedmoor or larger 300 PRC to complement my 7 Saum? I feel like the 7 PRC would be almost identical to my saum...but I like my 7's. I could load 140's in my Saum and Load 175's in a 7 PRC.

Jay I have a few friends shooting 300PRC's for elk and moose up here and really like them .
Defiance actions IIRC.
What purpose are you looking to use it for?
For me personally, I would get a gunsmith like Paul at PR Precision or Henry Remple to build me a rifle but that is just me.šŸ™‚

It would be a hunting rig, ideally total weight around 8-9.5 pounds, hunting out to 600 yards max. I like the more vertical grip of my Manners EH1 and how a little more weight helps with recoil.

I sold off most of my "lightweight" rifles, Kimber Montana and Barrett Feildcraft, after shooting my custom rifle. I still have one Kimber Montana, 270 win (for now) which I will keep for bush hunting. I think the "lightweight" stuff is great for quick off hand shooting and bush hunting but I enjoy that slightly heavier rifles with better ergonomics when shots get longer.

The stock on the Gunwerks Werkman rifle is suppose to be very good, its the original Magnus stock, i believe.

In my mind if I went 30 cal, it would be the 300 PRC, and it would become a Elk / Moose rifle, my 7 Saum would default to my Whitetail/Mule deer/Bear rifle. I know my 7 saum is good for everything, but some think the 30 cals are better. I've never shot and moose or elk so I don't have much experience.

Well, truth be told , your SAUM will do it all, but then you would not have to think about buying another rifle!😁
You could always just rebarrel your barret to something that catches your eye.
I have a gunsmith buddy who built a Weatherby 6.5RPM and really loves it!

Sounds like your just looking for another rifle to just have, which is okay as well.

Really the gunwerks is "custom" territory anyways, just not the options to pick the pcs you want yourself.

After I had a fierce carbon for a few years, I yearned for a custom rifle, so eventually had built with the things I wanted. It is a great rifle and still my main hunting rifle in 6.5 PRC. In the meanwhile I was building/putting together custom 10/22's and had the yearning to do the same with a rifle.

After some research, I ended up buying "prefit" components and putting together a rifle at home by myself. This is a 6.5 CM that I use at the bench, and it shoots awesomely, and fills my "void" of putting together a rifle by myself.

This year I'm going to by fighting myself to carry my custom rifle, and a new ruger #1 in 450 BM for my elk/ moose hunting. Just love how the 450 BM hammers, and I'm practiced to 350 yrds with it, shooting 290 gr tips. I will be in some areas that can stretch out past 350 though, so the hesitation.

You just have to see what itch you need to take care of, as those calibers will overlap on their abilities and you will wondering which one to carry when.
