hey guys i was looking at a rifle made by h and r, it comes in .308 caliber, 22" bull barrell. does anyone here own one? if what did you think of it? is it a good buy for 300 bucks?

I had a Ultra Varmint Fluted from H&R in 223, it was a laser.

The stock on the UVF is very similar to what you are looking at.

I'm sorry I sold it.

H&R are underrated in my book, yes they are a single shot but most of them shot with great accuracy and are cheap to boot. What's not to like? :D

Last time I checked Epps had some listed for sale, Cabellas might as well.

Our WSS has them listed but never has any in.

And yes I think they are a great buy for $300. :)

I think H+R/NEF firearms are a very good value for the money.However- I had purchased the "Survivor" model in .223.I sold it.Here's the deal- the forend screw was a plastic headed nut-could not use a tool on it.This is important, as the rifle was quite accurate, until I "took down" the rifle. It's supposed to have a storage compartment in the forestock under the barrel.Point of impact changes dramatically when removing forend, constant, repeatable torque is impossible with that crappy nut.It had a very heavy (TARGET) contour barrel, was blued, and had NO SIGHTS.For a survival rifle, that is silly, no sights, just drilled and tapped.Heavy barrel so not necessary on a "survival" rifle, neither is a scope only option..Has a storage compartment in the stock, which is good.I could not get the damn thing to keep zero, sold it, of course told my buddy who bought it about the issues pre sale.He sent it back, they ended upreplacing the crappy plastic headed bolt and ended up pinning the forestock in place, so no more takedown. However, it now holds zero.I'd buy a normal NEF .308, but not the survivor model.
