I just got a H. Dumoulin rifle in .308 Norma Mag. From what I've read Dumoulin makes upper echelon Mauser guns in Liege Begium. This guns looks pretty fancy except the stock. It didn't come with the original stock, but rather a laminated wood stick with Remington markings on it. Everything else looks original. I'm looking for a few opinions.
1. What do you think this is worth?
2. Where should I look for a good stock to fit this
Thanks

I saw the rifle at the show (If it is that one). I like H. Dumoulins a lot. I thought the price was reasonable for the rifle, maybe a bit high because of the stock which sucked the elegance out of the piece.

The pricing of Dumoulins really depends on the extras (engraving, mounts, safeties, peep sights, etc) and the condition of the woodwork and metal.

The most expensive Dumoulins are those with honest magnum actions or their own square bridge magnum action that they started building some years ago into the big safari calibers. Those as you likely read can be in the upper teens and up.

Their bluing is beyond belief and I believe unmatched. I did not see if it was original all the way through as the stock turned me off and I did not pursue it.

I think it was likely worth in the $1000 range, where if it was original and unmolested with good tight checkering and other nice wood details (maybe a cartidge trap), it would be about $2500. The original stock possibly cracked as many of their rifle stocks are delicate and a little too fine throught he wrist or fore-end.

I have one that no one liked because it has the oak leave high relief checkering/ carving. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Nice rifle over - all. It is up to you to decide how much to invest in a stock. Any mauser large ring wood would work. Then you choose your options.

I agree, without seeing it, a Dumoulin barrelled action in good cond. is worth the cash, wrong stock not withstanding.

I like them, but I think a plain version in a Rem stock isn't worth that much. I wouldn't pay more then $400-500 tops. They are a very nice rifle (at least certain versions). You see this in lots of rifles though, "Joe" read that a pre '64 Win Model 70 was worth 10k, so his uncle Bubba's deer gun with a hand whittled genuine pine stock with "kill notches" in it must be worth that too, lol. So it goes. - dan

This is a H. Dumoulin rifle in .308 Norma Mag.
I always thought it might be worth around $1500 - maybe I'm out to lunch??
(PS - it is NOT for sale :))

All original as far as I can tell Dan, no signs of any refinish.
It has been hunted with tho, and shows signs of use (stock has some scratches).
Doesn't appear to have ever been equipped with open sights - there is a nice Redfield scope on it.
It is a very nice rifle to carry (esp. in a scabbard on a horse), but its a bit stout to shoot!!

I have been looking for a nice rifle in 308 Norma Mag to replace my Voere (also in 308 NM) that I have owned since late 60s. I believe Browning, S&L, Voere, Parker Hale and Dumoulin were the only companies that made rifles in 308 NM. Anyways I came across a Dumoulin that I purchased, I am told it had less than box of ammo thru it - 1 owner, probably paid too much. Never had a Dumoulin in my hands before - they are really well built - action is not as smooth as a S&L. It put 5 rounds made for my Voere in less than .75" group at 100 yds. Not allot of info on Dumoulin rifles. What do these rifles sell for? Link to pics: https://imgur.com/a/bamQ6NT

Stock on that one looks identical to a Parker Hale model...

It really does, I have a PH in 308 NM, darker wood but otherwise looks identical. I have a Dumoulin in 7x61 S&H, in a synthetic stock, unfortunately for me, I do prefer wood for aesthetics. Good shooting rifle though. - dan

Definitely not a PH stock. PH never made a forearm in that style. The stock serial number in barrel channel matches the action serial number. I have pics of other Dumoulin riles with similar stocks. Dumoulin were hand craft and custom made so very few were identical.

If you are referring to the mannlicher style stock, I agree, if you are referring to the pic in post 11, I have a very similar looking stock on a PH I own, and have seen others. - dan

Here's my PH in 30'06. SILE made the stocks for PH.
