UPDATE: The rifles just started shipping to dealer in Europe. New photos in post #109

The HK243 civilian version of the G36 was revealed at IWA 2014 Expo. There will be two version an HK243 S SAR basic and a HK243 S TAR professional. Basic version will come with the standard G36 folding stock and a polymer sight rail with dioptre sight. Professional will come with: Flash hider, modular aluminium handguard with keymod interface on 3 and 9 o'clock, low aluminium sight rail with integrated folding dioptre sight, length adjustable and folding buttstock with adjustable cheek rest (G36 KSK), extended bolt catch. You can convert them from basic to professional or customize it with the many available accessories such as different rails including optic rails (G36), stocks and AR mag well. Both black and RAL8000 sand colours will be available.

If anyone is curious about the naming of the HK243 and the to be released USA version the HK293, it's a reference to the two older civilian HK rifles. The HK43 was the European and the HK93 was the USA version of a civilian G3 rifle. By HK internal coding system the last digit "3" denotes a 5.56mm caliber rifle. The first digit "4" denotes a "semi auto rifle" and the "9" a "semi auto rifle built to BATF requirements". These two new G36 civilian rifles take on the historical names and add a "2" as the first digit to denote a new version.

They are already listed on H&K website: http://www.heckler-koch.com/en/sport/products/rifles/hk243/hk243-s-sar/overview.html

UPDATE:

MSRP pricing in Germany is 1730 EUR for SAR Basic and 2290 EUR for TAR Professional. However German pricing includes a VAT tax that is 19% that is not applied to exports. If you subtract the tax and convert to CAD its $2200 for Basic and $3000 for Professional.

16 inch and 17 inch barrel length, will there be a 18.6 or 20 inch version? anybody at the trade show?
Is the G36 FRT good for these rifles?

Looking forward to it. This would re-kindle my interest in HK rifles. I loved my SL8 but it was more of a long range target rifle than a tacticool rifle.

Can you confirm if it will take SL8 magazines, G36 or both with the std mag well?, Looking at the link you provided shows the 5,7 and 10rnd mags being of SL8 design and the 30's of G36 design.

Thing is, if youi've got enough money to buy a rifle made by H&K, you've got enough money for mags and not worry about the STANAG adapter.

That is unless you plan on putting in LAR-15 mags in there, or again, since you have money, your Beowulf mags.
