H&K G36/SL8 Rear KAC Rail??

Hi guys!

Hey, I'm looking for a rail for my HK SL8/ (PSG8) conversion like this one! I see that Knight Armaments used to offer them, but a visit to their site doesn't show up anything like this! I'm not interested in anyting on the front of my rifle, as I have the B&T aluminum handguard RIS/RAS, but would really love the rear rail like the one pictured!

Anyone have anything like this, or know where I could acquire one? Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! There must be something out there like this available?

here, take a look:

Anyone??

HERA Arms I think still make a set like that (minus the flip-ups built into the KAC ones - you just use any flip-ups you want)

http://www.hera-arms.com/#!sl8-top-rail/c3up

There are several guys that have (or may still) deal with HERA Arms that are sponsors here, Wolverine Supplies and MilArm in Edmonton have dealt with HERA in the past, and may have a set on-hand or can see if Gravel Agency (whom used to import HERA also) still has a set...

Be warned though, trying to special order anything HERA Arms in is almost an exercise in futility. Although the company makes great stuff, they are VERY difficult to deal with as far as getting their stuff goes.

Hope that helps a bit!

I think the difficulty lies with the distributor more than the retailers. Calgary shooting center is another retailer that carries Hera.

thanks guys.... heck. I got a HERA lower on my SL8 already.... Ill see if I cant get the rail from Wolverine. I kinda like the look of the Knight one, but it seems they prolly dont make them anymore.

If I had another long rail, it wouldnt be hard to make something up like this out of it either, just would end up a little taller than the HERA type.

thanks again,
ginnz

The KAC "low profile rail" ( they made two lengths ) has been long out of production . The KAC RAS is very hard to find and used ones are over $500 since the G36 version ( what you want ) has been scarce to start with and long out of production . The G36C version is easier to find on the used market but will leave your piston assembly exposed

KAC stopped making G36 parts over 5 years ago

Your other problem is the KAC low profile rail you are looking for will only line up BUIS with a KAC front BUIS which is hard to find , not with the B&T forend and standard AR style BUIS

HK Parts use to make a low pro rail years ago to fill the gap of the KAC version being unobtanium , but they don't seem to have it any more

You should just buy the HERA rail. the B&T forend is very nicely made and fits like a glove . Only reason I sold mine was after years of searching , I found a G36 RAS that was buried at KAC's warehouse !

BTW you only need the "long" KAC rear rail if you plan to mount magnified optics or aimpoint with magnifier . I prefer the short rail if you plan to mount just red dot

I promise you, any difficulty there is in dealing with HERA Arms has absolutely nothing to do with the Canadian Distributor.

When it comes to an airsoft rail be aware that although many people have good luck with them, they often are mage with softer aluminum.

I have seen a few guys trim the SL-8 rail to the size they want, short piece up front and longer at the back. See if you can get a used rail off the EE and try that. Would save a lot of cash and you could see if you like it.
