Today my P30L hit 5000 rounds. I thought I should share some data with you guys about this journey.

The longest this gun went without cleaning or additional lubrication was 1800 rounds after todays trip to the range.

She's definitely a bit dirty after that

Slide has some gunk on it

Frame has some grime in some hard to get at areas

Yuck

Chamber was not the cleanest but the barrel was still surprisingly clean for something that got nearly 2k rounds with no cleaning.

Here is some data I kept around on the different brands and bullet weights I ran through this gun. Sorry reloaders I just buy commercial ammo so I can't give you any answers because I don't know the first thing about reloading ammo.

600 then cleaned
1000 then cleaned
300 then cleaned
500 then cleaned
800 then cleaned
600 not cleaned
600 not cleaned
600 then cleaned

0 malfunctions, 0 broken parts $0 spent on replacing wear parts

The gun is still more accurate than me, hasn't given me a single bobble yet, and is a joy to shoot

I just did a quick field strip the bore and chamber was cleaner faster than I expected. But she is good to go. I hope the data helps out.

Oh and I bought it on May so I guess its around 8-9 months in my possession

I will post the next range report when she hits 10k rounds or when I do a detail strip, whichever comes first. Till then, happy shooting :)

Cool, thanks for posting. You should have run it through the last 200 rounds. Now we'll never know if it would make it to 2000....:stirthepot2:

Best post this week, except for the disagreement thread.

Part of the plan for the next 5k journey. Mostly steel cased stuff and 2k without cleaning possibly 2500.

pretty cool stuff, it can handle 5K like nothing happened, literally nothing. The recoil spring in this gun should be changed every 15K, and that is the factory recommendation, that means, I am sure it will withstand at least 25K without any issues, and it you have any, they will be minor: trigger return spring and hammer spring...nothing more than that.

Cheers.

Don't pretend we are the same...for one, I think it's retarded to insult a guy that posts a range report on a gun forum, but for you...that seems to be par for the course

Onagoth, just a recommendation, do not feed the trolls.

I was told 25k between recoil spring is what was factory recommended. I have a complete spare RSA already, I will run it to failure then report what failed and hopefully figure out how it failed as well.

HK Recoil spring assemblies are expensive (rod, spring, buffer, retaining disc). Supposedly you need a special tool to remove the disc or you'll damage the rod. Some guys on HK forums in USA suggest putting the free edge of the spring over the disc, then 'rotating the spring off' like a key ring off a key.

As much as I love HK's, the glock recoil springs are much more economical to replace.

not they are not.
in a Block, recoil spring assembly should be replaced every 5K, add it up and you get the cost of the recoil assembly of the HK.

recoil assembly most likely will never fail, it will get weaker and you will beat the gun to death, most likely you will see damage on the plastic bushing/buffer and probably the inside of the frame.

I started off with 2 mags, then I got two more used ones at the 1600 mark. I believe I got the 5th one new at CSC at around the 3000 round mark, and the last two I got a week back also new, so they were only used from 4400-5000 rounds. Good idea though from now on when I get new mags I will jot it down, because I honestly don't remember when I got the 5th mag. They have all fed perfectly and they are fairly easy to load.
