Any p30L owners out there? I am seriously considering one of these a my next 9mm and would like to hear how owners feel about them. Also holster options and availability. Thx CGNr's

Let me know if you find one. I want a compact version in .40S&W with the 4.25" threaded barrel and cannot find one to save my life.

GET IT and never look back.

well I don't own one, I own a USP9... but I handled a P30 (not the L) at the range not long ago and all I can do is give you my first impressions and compare this to the USP:

- the thing will fit your hand like a glove, with the 3x3 pannels, it will fit anyones hand like a glove.
- decocker is a push button in the back of the slide and seemed more user friendly in the sense that less movement is required for the same result, it can be reached without changing the grip.
- mag release paddle is bigger, it function the same way but is easier to use as it as more leverage.
- rail is picatinny so you do not need an adaptor.
- slide release is ambidextrous and of a lower profile.
- mag is metal not polymer.
- night sight, not tritium but greenish glow in the dark.
- finish and polymer looks and feel the same.

I love the look and feel of my USP, it has never failed me and shoots better than anything elso I shot. I strongly believe the P30 or P30L would do the same with all the plus it seems to have. Personally I would prefer a P30S (with external safety) but that is just me. The "spider-man" grip looks funny until you pick it up, then you realise it works.

hope this helps!

I have had the pleasure of owning P30L's in both the traditional SA/DA configuration (v3) and in HK's proprietary LEM trigger configuration (v1). I will say that, hands down, the P30 series represents the absolute pinnacle in modern handgun ergonomic engineering. You can actually make this gun fit both your hands and your shooting style. And once you get used to the ambi mag release, you will wonder why all gun makers don't adopt this system. It is by far the easiest to use and fastest mag release I have used.

With 3 different sizes of interchangeable grip side panels (6 total panels, 3 right and 3 left in S, M and L) and 3 different interchangeable backstraps (also in S, M and L) there are 54 total possible combinations. Talk about a custom fit! It might seem like a strange idea, at first, to mix and match the different sized side panels but it makes for a custom fit for a 2-handed grip. Try it, you'll be surprised; the difference is subtle but noticeable. The problem, if you can call it that, is that there are almost too many choices! You can really get carried away trying every possible combination...

The DA/SA trigger is decent in SA but horrid in DA, like all HK's. The LEM (or CDA as it's called in Europe) trigger is a thing of beauty and has to be shot to be truly appreciated, IMO. If you know how to work the trigger reset, the pull is a respectable length, with a very crisp but light (4.5 lb.) break. As far as hammer fired pistols go, the LEM is unrivaled. It is incorrect to refer to it as a DAO trigger as it acts more like a striker fired pistol in that the hammer is partially cocked during the cycling of the action.

The only real downside to the P30 series of pistols is their price. They are quite spendy for a polymer pistol... For some, it is difficult to justify spending twice as much as a Glock or an M&P on a single gun.... But that decision is a personal one and only you can decide whether or not the gun is worth the higher investment. Oh, and the mags can be a bit pricey ($75 ea. on average) and sometimes hard to find.

There are holsters showing up on the market for the P30 but not so many for the P30L. But that being said, kydex holster maker, Comp-tac, does make all of their designs for the P30L as well as the P30. They make great gear and have a very strong following in the US. You can only order direct form Comp-tac but they do international shipping. I have ordered from them a few times and have had no problems whatsoever. They have great customer service.

You're not going to find one in Canada. Not yet anyway... :( Give it a month or two. But that being said, your best bet is to call either Wolverine or Chris at P&D. They both seem to have a pretty good handle on the HK supply chain.

I would have to disagree as I bought one 9 months ago from P&D. Love it and find it is the best 9mm I've ever owned.

Looking on P&Ds site it appears they have one for sale and in stock at $1199

I had a P30-L DA/SA and liked it,...very reliable and although a little slippery (my fault, oil got on it)

I sold it to fund another tanfoglio, but I also sold it because I want the P30-L S,
same gun with an ambi safety.

I was replying to a gent that is looking for a P30 in .40 S&W, not the OP. ;) And the .40's aren't here just yet.

p30L

I got one about 3 months ago and absolutely love it,ive owned both the Mark 23 and a USP9mm and the P30 is now my favorite.Only complaint I had was the trigger but after about a thousand rounds it smoothed right out.Anyone considering one of these don't hesitate its the best $1200. bucks ive spent for a pistol.Another note any Mags you come across buy em,there seems to be a shortage and expect to pay up to $90 a piece

I just got mine p30L monday. Couldn't wait to get to the range with it.
I got the LEM trigger model. I love the gun it's shoot great.

My only problem is the mag release. My grip rub against the mag release.

I own a sig 226.

Thanks all for the thoughts and opinions.

I purchased one today and will probably pick it up on Monday. Can't wait!

Still looking for thoughts on holsters.

I got one about two weeks ago from Target Sports, fantastic service by the way, and absolutely love it.

The trigger pull will take a bit getting used to, but I like it!

If anyone finds mags in stock let me know as they are unobtanium right now from the distributor.

I will let you know on the comp tac holster, I ordered the belt loop model a double mag carrier and a single mag carrier, based on their e-mail production updates I am hopeful on receiving them by the end of next week (6 more days)

Cheers, B

I ordered a 6004-3930 for the P30LS that I also have on order. Neither will even ready to ship for months. Some people have said that HK45 holsters can work, but I did notice that the trigger guard is quite different and I think that a molded kydex might be problematic.

I wish they made the P30 with a short grip like the P2000. With only 10 rounds, the P30 is a big gun compared to the P2000.
