i've had a bit of interest in the SL8 for a little and i'm just wondering if anyone has tried the mag conversion and if there is any other after market stocks or mods for it?

I picked up the mag conversion from Wolverine a while back and it's great. I had Jamie dremel out the little two nubs to fit the AR mags.

My only complaint with it is the mags don't drop out freely.

I put one of the short folding stocks on it once but that was horrible. Way too front heavy, even with the barrel cut down to the min. non-retricted length.

.

I have heard others saying the same about their mag conversion.
I just installed the mag conversion from Wolverine about a month ago and all of my 30/5 & 20/5 mags drop out freely. Even the new 10 round pistol mags drop freely. Maybe I got lucky with mine.

The stocks are hard to come by. They were made by Top Notch in te US and I belive that they have stopped makeing them.

Hey Guys

I just received my PAL restricted back after letting my FAC expire years ago.

I was wondering where there was a dealer for the SL8 in the Toronto area.

Also, are the Top Notch folding butt kits legal to import from the US?

Sorry for these obvious questions but I did a search and couldn't find the answers.

Thanks..

T Bone,
Ellwood Epps show that they have two SL8-5 rifles in stock on their web site. h ttp://www.ellwoodepps.com/

They are just north of Orillia. Not sure how far that is from you though. If you prefer the SL8-4, P&D in Edmonton has one in stock for about $90 cheaper than Epps.

Thanks!

I am in the GTA so I can visit Orilla.

T bone, most retailers will be happy to ship the firearm to you, if you don't mind paying by CC over the phone. Also, if you buy from a retailer in Alberta, you don't pay provincial sales tax.

But buying over the counter and taking it straight home is sometimes more than worth it.

Be careful when buying folding stocks from the US. Some came from military/police G36's and were formerly capable of FA fire and probably aren't legal here in Canada. Other than that, you're importing a hunk of plastic.

To find deals on stocks and other parts, check the E&E here and hkpro.com forums obsessively. wolverinesupplies.com also has well priced HK guns and parts and excellent service.
