hey guys,

i am looking in to getting a HK USP stainless (so pimp!) but i am a lefty, and i was wondering if the safety and the decocking switch can be changed out to something that has controls on both sides?

thanks.

I am a lefty also, and I've had several USPs. The USP Expert already comes with an ambi safety/decocking lever. Wolverine Supplies can get you one for the regular USP. Or, alternatively, you can have a single lever on the right side of the gun (that is what I had on my USP 9mm).

I thought one of the USP variants out of the 10 were for people who had the wrong hands? Check HKusa which lists all the variants.

uncle walther - the one with the single lever on the right side is the variant 2 right? i've asked for those at p&d, but it'll take a WHILE to get one... so the kit seems like an instant fix for me, i've heard the ambi kits do malfunction quite often, and takes a bit of fitting to get it to work smoothly... maybe i'll check into the expert but my budget is limited

screwmartin - i've checked into the variant 2 (i think), chris @ p&d said they usually take 3 months to get :(

I installed the ambi lever on my USP last spring. I'm right handed, but it works fine for me any time I use it lefty.

I am not sure if it is variant 2. I bought a used USP 9mm that was set up that way. I think it is easy to switch out the lever. I saw a guy do it in about 3 minutes. I think the ambi lever is $60 from Wolverine.
