This is German-made, a bit improved 7,62-mm H&K L7A2 GMPG (General Purpose Machine Gun) for the British Army. As you can see the weapon is offered with two new, lighter barrels - longer and shorter one.

p-)

The ironic part is that FN shot down the West German government's desire to have the FAL (G1) licence built in Germany.

I'm guessing that this will be pretty much like a regular FN MAG, only with worse customer service.

The Brits haven't designed a military firearm in a hundred years, other than the Sten. At least they know to delegate.
The Simpsons plank with a nail in it was on TV today, soon my one-man invasion of the UK will be unleashed.

Wow the fail is strong with this one.

lol... indeed...

The SA80 was the last in a long line of British weapons (including the Lee-Enfield family) to come from the national arms development and production facility at Enfield Lock. Its bullpup configuration stems from a late-1940s programme at Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield to design a new service rifle which was known as the EM-2, which though similar in outline, was an entirely different weapon.

This is exactly what popped into my head as soon as I saw this.

Are you sure that the HK L7GPMG is a FN MAG copy? It reminds me of a Czech made BREDA in 7.92x57. The Brits used to use the BREDAs in their tanks at the beginning of WW2 as did many other countries (Germany).

The new PKM styled bbl, short barrel, and railed top cover? Not much progress but still better options than standard old school GPMGs.

Shorter barrel is not an upgrade for a GPMG, It will decrease your maxium effective range, If you want a short barrel 7.62 LMG, FN offers one.

Top cover I think ever army by now is using a top railed cover or flip over rail on there GPMGs. US, Canada "overseas", Brits, Aussies

Light barrel is nice but how does it effect the guns barrel life on prolong firing?
