good afternoon

Yesterday I went to the gunstore and ended up purchasing an H+R 20 gauge pardner with the 26 inch barrel. Seems like a pretty decent unit for the money. This gun is not for me but i puchased it as a gift for someone as there first firearm. I know next to nothing about shotguns but figued this would be a good little gun for shooting grouse, small game as well some clays at the gravel pitt while camping. What are the limitations of these little guns and are there any little "tweaks" that people like to do to these or are they generally left alone?

thanks

Perfect shotgun for what you plan to do with it. Sometimes they come with rough chambers that will cause the odd shell to stick when fired and it wont eject. You can polish the chamber to fix this problem as well as put a BB behind the ejector spring to make it stronger. Properly taken care of these shotguns will last forever. Keep in mind recoil can be abrupt with such a light weight gun. There is no safety on the gun other than the transfer bar, so as a first firearm for someone just be sure they are familiar on how to safetly release the hammer back down after its been cocked if they do not wish to fire the gun.
