Came across this rifle at a local dealer, Model 150 Leatherneck, 22 cal. Markings on receiver, Harrington & Richardson, Long Branch Ont. It's semi auto with a ten shot clip which is marked on the side, Harrington & Richardson, Reising. To chamber a round you use your finger in a slot in the under side of the fore arm and push back a plunger to open bolt then release. I wonder if this might have been used as a trainer for our military. The dealer has never seen one before. The only thing keeping it from being original is the rear sight and it's been drilled and tapped on left receiver for a scope mount. Thanks for any help.

H+R and remington both used Longbranch to make firearms I have an H+R .22 as well the thing is built like a tank apparently they took on commercial jobs to keep the skilled workforce going between gov't contracts .H+R did quite a bit of their R+D on the FN (US version) at CAL Canada was the first country outside Belgian (sp) the build the FN so when the US was considering the FN H+R was one of the contractors and working closly with CAL engineers .as for it being a military trainer I would say no it was post war and the reising was not at all popular but the little .22 was.FWIW when I worked in Clarkson which is a few miles away from CAL i remeber seeing a Remington sign on the side and if you ever get a nylon66 with MADE IN CANADA on the barrel bingo you have a Longbrnch/CAL I also got to walk around inside the place when the post office used it for sorting/storage ..what a shame

Sounds like a .22 calibre copy of the Reising SMG. The SMG was in .45 ACP and looks sort of like a Cooey. It was disliked by the U.S. Marines because all the parts were hand fitted at the factory so there was no interchanging parts. Definitely not a CF training firearm.
