H&r 45-70

How's the quality of the post Remlin takeover H&R 45-70?, not the Ultra hunter or the Buffalo classic but just the base model handi rifles? trying to put together a good thumper of a close range bear rifle.As a side note I am also looking for a low power 1-4x or some such with an illuminated reticle that with be able to hold up to the recoil of a 45-70,anybody know of one?

i havent had much luck with the survivor series.

They're cheap and junky but they go bang and that's enough for some guys. Personally I think that there are lots of better options. The others are more expensive, but there's a reason for that.

I'm happy enough so far with my Handi-rifle in .243 Win but have no experience with Handi-rifles in other chamberings.
