I am looking to pickup a gun to hunt Coyotes with this winter...I am pretty sure I want a .204...heavy BBL, and I would like something short. Now, this will be gun #3 this year...and I have 2 bows on order...so I am trying to keep costs down...I was looking at the H&R rifles, and while they arent pretty, they seam like they are ok...but do they shoot? Now, I am not expecting one hole groups or anything, just reasonable hunting accuracy...how do these things shoot?

I have one in heavy bbl with laminated stock and it shoots well - say 1-1.5 inch at 100 yds with reloads
Sometimes it gets a bit picky tho for some reason that I cant figure out.

I did the trigger on it so it is cleaner, but you cant get away from the hammer fall vs a faster lock time of a modern bolt action.

I have a 10X Bushnell and most times can do a gopher good at 100 yds - but after that it gets a bit iffy as they are a relatively small target and an inch her eor there....- moa of rabbit or coyote is alot better with it - out to 200 quite easily

I keep wondering if i should sell it...but i rarely sell a gun...

I have the .243 Ultra Varmint with the heavy barrel and it has been very accurate for me. It shoots sub-moa all day with 58gr V-max. It took some playing around, but I got 100gr bullets to group down into the 1-1.5 MOA range
