Has anyone had experience with the H&R Buffalo classic in .45-70? Regarding long range accuracy, reliability, favorite loads (hunting & plinking)? Also wondering if anyone has installed Cowboy Action shooting legal sights?

I have had two, one with standard 32" barrel and the other I bobbed to 26" and installed Skinner Peeps with Lyman globes... They are very accurate guns... Most shooting at distance are installing tang mounted ladders... I never pressed mine beyond 250 yards... I developed a number of loads (which I can PM if you like)... But the 32" had a preference for Lyman 405 grain hard cast (.459) and the 26" liked Hornady 325 FTX's... Which I also shoot in my Ultra .45/70...

I've used my uncle's, but only at 100 yards. It seemed to do quite well with his rather stiff hand loads. A bargain for playing long range with an old west styled gun IMO. He was getting pretty reasonable results at 200 as I recall, not much sight adjustment for further work without the tang sight as Hoyt mentioned.
