What does anyone know about H&R M-4 survival rilfes? I am under the understanding they are restricted. Seen one at a local gun shop a guy was trading in and a recent EE post made me think of it again. What is there story and what are they worth?

Yes, they are restricted. I have seen a couple sell for $800-$1000. Others have reported them selling for much less. Don't know that they appear often enough to have established values. Interesting little rifles, bit of a collectible. Not much practical value. On the other hand, if they were non restricted......

Yes, but with the stock collapsed, they were a smidgeon too short. I have seen where guys weld a short bar on the stock so it won't go in all the way, but this will not de-restrict it. A slightly longer barrel would though.

I have seen them sell in the $300 - 650 range here in Canada. In the US, if properly papered, they are worth considerably more.

I know a liitle bit about these.

These are restricted in Canada.

"These were guns developed for the use of Air Force personnel for hunting if forced down in uninhabited or hostile territory. The M4 Survival Rifle is bolt acion and chambered for the 22 Hornet cartridge; it has a 5 round box type magazine and a collapsible wire stock. The barrel is removable for packing purposes. The rifle weighs 4 pounds and has a 13.75 inch barrel. "

Here's mine. It is has a Lyman 55h peep sight.
