H&R/nef varmint rifles

I'm thiniking of getting one of the above rifles, but I'm not sure what the twist rate is in their barrels. What is the difference between H&R and nef 223 bull barrel models?

Any opinions welcomed.

The difference is very little (basically none where it counts) Most nef's to date have been 1 in 12 but there a switch at this point to 1 in 9. I am not sure which models have been switched, go to www.graybeardoutdoors.com for all things Handi there is a really active group there.

For the price, they're a good rifle, no doubt about it. If you can pick up one with a 1/9" twist, you'd have a fantastic mid range platform for little dinero (invest the $ in the scope)

Same gun, different badge in my experience (think Chevy cavalier and Pontiac sunfire), so no. I've only played with NEF, and it had a decent trigger.

I've got the H&R ultra varmint in .223 with the heavy barrel. I shoots like a dream. I highly recommend them. Not sure about the NEF's though.

Trigger pull is a tad heavy, but riles are usually fairly accurate, and the price sure is right.

nice guns, got one in .243 with the 24" bull barrel. handloads with a 55gr spitzer ballistic tip - wow very fast. 4000+ fps
