H & R Pionner Single Shot - I think I broke something

As I was taking out the bolt on my H & R Pionner single shot I somehow broke the piece that keeps the cartridge from falling in the stock. There's two hard to see wires that were keeping that piece in tension but I can't figure out where they're supposed to go. I tried looking at my cooey single shot but it doesn't have any hole at that place

Any idea why it's there and how do I fix it?

Judging by the look of the whiskers sticking out and how mangled looking they are I'm guessing that the spring jumped the track and got all bent out of shape. Certainly it doesn't look good.

I can't suggest much since I don't know what the portion of the spring hidden inside the guide looks like. The picture quality is great but if you could remove the pin and take the guide off and lay out the parts so we can see the spring it might suggest something which can be done.
