What are your opinions on these rifles? I'm considering buying one of the ultra varmints but i have never heard anything about these guys.

Seems to be very hit and miss (pardon the pun) .I have read they either group extreemly well or have flyers in bunches. This was from reportedly knowledgeable people who know about barrel harmonics & picking correct bullet weights ect.
-excuse the spelling I just dont give a crap-:D
ps: I have read you will never get as reliable accuracey from a good quality break action as from a low-med. quality bolt action.

I had heard some pretty good things about them, but after getting one in .223 I realized it just doesn't compare to a stevens.

I tried several (4) different ammuntions and the rifle had a 3"-4" spray not matter what. Then I messed around with it after doing lots of research on grey beard outdoors. The best I ever got was a couple 2 1/2" groups, not a varmint gun in my opinion

we had poor luck with a bunch of the NEF guns quite a fews yrs back. one would jump open when fired (270), one would jam the fired case almost every time in the chamber (22-250), had to poke it out with the antenna on the truck on one trip to the gravel pit. and a few had to have the hinge replaced, didn't last very long. The only one I liked was the H&R 157 full wood stock in 30-30. It did need a hinge replacement once, as well, but I liked it, cause it was neat!

I've got an Ultra-Varmint Fluted in .204 and am happy with it. Very accurate and fun to shoot, considering the pricepoint.

I have one of the above in 223 and I'm happy with it as well.I have good optics for it (worth more then the rifle) and I'm handloading so it does exactly what i want it to do for the price i paid.

Big bonus for me is the fact that i can take rear part of the stock off with ratchet
and place it neatly in any of my cases for transport.
To get it i sold stock CZ 527 sportster. It was a good trade IMHO.

The H&R Ultra should be a bit nicer than the NEF Handi-Rifles that in my experience have been good. I first tried a friend's wooden stocked .243 and was impressed, so I bought a Superlight (synthetic) in .223 and it shoots well and lives up to its name. I have since acquired a .308 barrel for it and that is working well, too.
