H&R Sportster in 22MAG

I don't have the 22 mag but I have the H&R Sportster in 17HMR.
If the 22 mag is anything like this... you'll love it. This thing is a freekin' laser beam!!
I don't use the iron sights but NEVER had any issues with it and it's NEVER let me down.
Accurate as hell.
On the down side, it's a break action, single shot and a little heavy to carry after a while (due to the heavy barrel on the 17 HMR).
I would still give it a 2 thumbs on the "buy" scale though.
Good luck!

I have the H&R in 22-250....hate it. great calibre but the gun is crap. It kept unlocking on firing! had to file the lock mech to fix it. the stock was so oversized that the receiver carved into it with each shot until a chunk finally broke off after 80 rnds. I wouldn't take another one if it was a gift! Just MY experience.

i have 3 H&R shot guns. they are what they are. noting flashy. they work great. i have about 1200 rounds on my 12g pardner and no problems hitting 22 and 23 on the trap range with it.

Ouch...
Sounds like yours was a "Made On Monday" model. :D

I know they be heavy. My .223 survivor need a wheel barrel to move. My idea's for the MAG is the survivor stock and a make a good survival/hunting/trapping gun. Only concern I really have is Sheit sights.

I've got the sportster in in 22lr,22mag and 17hmr, they're all fun guns. I haven't had any mechanical issues with any of them. I switched out the stock sights to Williams FP's and changed the front posts to beads, the stock sights were crap. I tried Williams wgrs and skinners sight but I prefer the fp.

The sportster 22mag isn't heavy, it doesn't have the heavy contour barrel. If you put the survivor stock on it you have to change the sights to a receiver mounted sight, those stocks aren't ment for barrel mounted sights.

My 22 lr and 22 mag are both light, short, well made rifles, either will accept scopes, both have irons. I also have a 30 30 handi rifle as well as a survivor 20 g and a 12 g, fine arms, well priced and dependable units.

I haven't had that problem with my 223 and not sure if there would be enough power in the rimfire?

Can anybody confirm the rear sights on the sporster is 3/8s dove tails?
