well i decided its time i get another gun "for my kids";) was looking at the H&R tamer .410 as it is a perfect learning/rabbit gun, and my son will be old enough in anothe rcouple of years t otake out and teach him the ropes. so has anyone actully seen these or handled them ? i looked at them on there website and wholesale carrys them, they seem like a decent laerning gun and could handle a bit of banging around in the hands of a youth. any thoughts or suggestions?
i already bought him a .22 when he was born so no "maybe a .22 would be a better starter gun"

Tamer

If it's the same one I had (very short barrel) the muzzle blast was horrendous. I wouldn't let any of my kids shoot one as a first timer. The NEF single shot .410 with the 26" barrel is a better choice.

cheers Darryl

youth guns

Teach him gun handling with the 22. (safety, respect, accuracy) A single shot teaches make every shot count. For shock and awe, a 410 close range hit on an apple, orange teaches how dangerous guns can be. Once safe handling and respect is learned graduate to use of 410 under supervision. No shortcuts to safe handling. Start with 22 shorts if needed. If your son is not interested or only shoots to make you happy, your fighting a losing battle. Not everyone likes shooting. IMHO.
