I was wondering how to go about taking the fore end off one of these? i was given one recently and the wood on it is messed up and i wanted to replace it but i have no how to take off the current fore end, any advice is appreciated.

Older one? No screw holding forearm on? Just grap the tip of the forend and pull it away from the barrel. There is a spring loaded latch.

bit older one ya, no screw or spring latch like on any of my double barrels

They spring latch is different than what your used to on your doubles. There is no release button, the fore-end kind of cam locks into place. As Tiriaq said, with the action closed, grab the tip of the fore-end and pull down (away from the barrel).
