Is anyone using both in their 223? It seems they have very similar burn rates but Benchmark seems to produce a bunch more velocity. Does anyone have firsthand experience and thoughts?

I use H335 in my XCR and Benchmark in my bolt guns. I've never tried to develop and accuracy load for the XCR as I don't really have the time and I don't look at it as a scalpel, more like a cleaver. If I was going to use the XCR in the winter I would use Benchmark for temp stability.

seems? published data or firsthand experience?

Hodgdon's data suggests the velocity is more or less the same, and where benchmark is faster, the pressure is higher.

I have had good luck with benchmark in a wide variety of .223's, it meters well, and is an extreme powder (temp stable). I would try it over h335.

Chuck,

I load both.

I have been shooting a 69Gr Matchking over 25Gr of H-335 in my Swiss and a Rem LTR that I had for the past 5 years with good results. The main reason for shooting 335 is that it meters well on my dillon 650. Accuracy and velocity were good as well, but everything is a bit of a compromise.

The last number of months I've been playing with Benchmark. The granuals are cut so short that it should meter just fine through my dillon powder measure. I have not really noticed any improvement in accuracy or velocity over 335.

Give me a call today if I can help
